1Which creative sectors are supported by CCIDA? How can I know which projects are supported by the funding schemes under CCIDA?

CCIDA supports eight creative sectors including advertising, architecture, design, digital entertainment (games, animation and comics), film, music, printing and publishing, and television.

CCIDA funds projects related to the film industry through the Film Development Fund (FDF) and projects related to the seven creative sectors other than film or related to the entire creative industries through the CreateSmart Initiative (CSI).  For details, please refer to the relevant web pages –

2CCIDA supports some multi-media industries. Which multi-media industries are supported by CCIDA? If I have an idea for promoting the development of a local multi-media industry, which funding scheme(s) under CCIDA can I apply for?

CCIDA provides funding support through the CreateSmart Initiative (CSI) to projects related to the multi-media industries including advertising, digital entertainment (games, animation and comics), music or television, or cross-sectoral projects (i.e. with one or more other creative sectors supported by CCIDA).

3I have a cross-sectoral idea that will benefit one or more creative sectors as well as the industries other than the eight creative sectors. Can I apply to the Film Development Fund (FDF) and the CreateSmart Initiative (CSI) under CCIDA for funding?

The FDF and the CSI fund projects conducive to the development of relevant creative sectors and/or the entire creative industries.  Projects which meet the above objectives and fulfil all prerequisites in the relevant application guidelines while benefiting industries other than the eight creative sectors are eligible for application. To avoid double subsidy, if any applications are successful in both the FDF and the CSI, funding will only be given through one of the schemes. Please refer to Q9 for details.

4Which funding schemes or approved projects of CCIDA provide funding support for me to publish books or print matters in and/or outside Hong Kong?

CCIDA provides funding support through the CreateSmart Initiative (CSI) to “The Next Writer Publication Funding Scheme” to nurture budding writers to publish picture books, or books on popular science or intangible cultural heritage in Hong Kong.  For the hyperlink to such project, please refer to the following web page on this website–

5Which funding schemes or approved projects of CCIDA provide funding support for me to produce original animations, publish original comics or develop original games in and/or outside Hong Kong?

CCIDA does not sponsor individual enterprises direct to produce, publish or develop original products.  However, funding support has been provided through the CreateSmart Initiative (CSI) to the projects initiated and implemented by the industry that support the start-ups participating in the relevant projects.  These projects include “Animation Support Programme” which supports local animation companies to produce new original animations in Hong Kong, “Hong Kong Comics Support Programme” which supports local comic companies to publish new original comics in Hong Kong and promote these new comics in and outside Hong Kong and “Hong Kong Game Enhancement and Promotion Scheme” which supports local game companies to enhance and promote their newly released original games in and outside Hong Kong.  For the hyperlinks to such projects, please refer to following web pages on this website –

6Which funding schemes or approved projects of CreateHK provide funding support for me to participate in exhibitions such as Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART), Hong Kong International Licensing Show, Hong Kong Book Fair, Ani-Com & Games Hong Kong, CENTRESTAGE, DesignInspire, Hong Kong Fashion Week, Hong Kong International Printing and Packing Fair, MarketingPulse, ART CENTRAL, Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair, etc.?

CreateHK provides funding support through the CreateSmart Initiative (CSI) to individual projects to participate in large-scale exhibitions such as Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART), Hong Kong International Licensing Show, Hong Kong Book Fair, Ani-Com & Games Hong Kong, CENTRESTAGE, etc., that help participating companies set up exhibition booths and/or the trade organise events at these exhibitions, and to set up the “DesignInspire - Hong Kong Creative Force” pavilion that provides a platform for local design talent to showcase their products and services.

 

In addition to local exhibitions, the CSI also sponsors individual projects to participate in exhibitions such as book fairs, comic fairs and design weeks outside Hong Kong.  Please refer to the announcements on this website.

7Which funding schemes or approved projects of CCIDA provide funding support for me to explore the markets in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and “Belt and Road”?

CCIDA encourages Hong Kong creative sectors to capitalise on the opportunities brought by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) development and the “Belt and Road” Initiative, and to strengthen the ties with other GBA cities and “Belt and Road” countries/regions.  The trade may apply to the Film Development Fund (FDF) and the CreateSmart Initiative (CSI) for funding support to organise projects for showcasing Hong Kong’s films, creative products and/or services to other GBA cities and “Belt and Road” countries/regions, and to explore opportunities for expanding markets for Hong Kong films, and for collaboration and expanding businesses having regard to the local demands of these cities and countries/regions.  CCIDA sponsors a number of projects related to the GBA and the “Belt and Road” Initiative.  The hyperlink to some major projects are listed in the following web page on this website –

 

The FDF also provides sponsorship to encourage distribution of Hong Kong films in Guangdong Province as well as in other parts of the Mainland.  For details, please refer to the following web page –


Remarks: The GBA comprises the two Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macao, and the nine prefecture-level cities of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing in Guangdong Province; while “Belt and Road” covers over 150 countries in Asia, Europe, the Americas, Africa and Oceania.  For more details on “Belt and Road” countries/regions, please visit the “Belt and Road” Portal of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (https://beltandroad.hktdc.com/).

8What support does CCIDA provide for the design sector in response to their needs in promoting design and enhancing the design standard?

CCIDA provides funding support through the CreateSmart Initiative (CSI) to projects related to the development of Hong Kong’s design sector and the “Design Incubation Programme” and “Fashion Incubation Programme” which are administrated by the Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC) to nurture design start-ups and potential fashion talent and brands respectively.

 

In addition, the HKDC and PMQ, as the strategic and close partners of the Government in promoting design and related creative industries respectively, organise various signature events (such as “Business of Design Week” and “deTour”) to foster the development of Hong Kong design and help reinforce Hong Kong’s status as a city of design excellence in Asia.

9I have applied for funding support under the Film Development Fund (FDF) or the CreateSmart Initiative (CSI) for my project. Can the same project be funded by CCIDAHK, other government departments or even the commercial sector?

To avoid double subsidy, further funding support from the FDF or the CSI will not be given to project elements which will receive or have received funding from other government sources (including CreateHK).  In addition, the applicant may receive sponsorship from the industrial and commercial sectors for the project, but is required to list such sponsorship in the application form.
